Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
No problem thanks for watching.
Brother, you wwew blockimg the view all the time with your hand...
I’ll work on making another video.
Instead of putting in a dummy cell and let water pump through the system to trigger the salt cell i guess you can just manually press the flow switch in the open/non running system to trigger the cell? 🤞
Wh a t size pipes are you using?
1.5”
How many pool services do you do in a day?
Our routes are very close and around 10k gallons so our minimum is 15 per day.
Do you charge extra for this service?
Yes a service call at minimum.
Great idea. Never crossed my mind. I'm gonna use this with my employees
I’m glad it helped! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for posting this video. Just picked up an account with six of these on an Intellicenter.
You’re very welcome. It’s sorta hidden isn’t it? Thanks for watching.
5:16 there have been tons of stories of people getting electrocuted by pool lights
Yes typically with 120v lights. I have yet to see a 120v light here in my area in almost 10 years.
How can I test the actual timer motor? WG-1573 to see if it is working before I replace it> I have two of these motors and at 120 volts neither one has the gears spinning when I hook up line 1 and line 3.
The bubbles DO make it to every return in the pool if each return was homerun back to manifold. The bubbles don't know which path is shortest at the manifold, they only follow the flow of the water. If the valves are adjusted to equalize flow at each return, then there you go, chlorinator bubbles out of every return.
How long does it take the ichlor to completely boot up after plugging it into the power supply box.
It should be operational in around 60 seconds after you turn the power on.
@@ChlorineKingPoolService thank you, I was giving one that’s was new that was defective I hooked it up to the supply box and it wouldn’t read the correct salt level and the cell light would stay red
@@snookmania1062 that definitely sounds like a bad cell to me.
Thanks! Your advice saved me over $400 for a new salt cell!
You’re too kind! Thanks so much. I genuinely appreciate it.
Excellent method for checking a salt cell ... Thank you!
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching.
@@ChlorineKingPoolService Bro, you just saved me about $400 for a new salt cell! Mine was working fine. I just had no stabilizer in the pool, so the chlorine was getting used up faster than it could generate in these hot Florida days! Thanks again.
@@joeb594you’re very welcome. Very common situation here in Florida especially with the summer storms. I’m glad I was able to help! Thanks for watching.
I get this same call a lot Also the 500 hr inspect cell light reminder that clears by holding the diagnostic button down. Easy $ I suppose. Even when I explain it most clients can't get it figured out and end up changing the cell type and screw everything up. This video is very helpful for them.
Yea the inspect cell light freaks people out for some reason. Even after explaining it’s built into the system and doesn’t mean that something is wrong. 😑
So many people in Florida have no comprehension of what pools need. Chlorine is just a part of the equation. Ph cy alkaline and also TDS phosphates etc all contribute to algae. You can't just throw in bleach and call it good. Also everyone here in south Florida tries to run the pump 3-4 hrs a day and wonders why it's always green. And also salt water pools still use chlorine. They just make chlorine via salt in the water. You still have a chlorine chemical in the pool. Tired of clients saying my pool uses salt not chlorine. What do you think the main ingredients in chlorine are folks?? Salt. Sodium hydrochloride. Everyone technically has a salt level in their pool just from adding bleach. And chill on the tablets y'all. They will cause your cy level to be out of control and lock up your chemistry. This man knows what he is talking about. Good channel.
I love the rant. So true and accurate. I’ve said as much to clients and they back off. Thanks for watching and the compliments. I always do my best to put out good info. You know how it goes though…haters gonna hate.
Is that pump self priming? I just put together a system like that 3/4 Hp Pump but just can’t seem to get it primed
Yes this one is self priming. It’s a standard sta-rite Supermax 3/4 in ground swimming pool pump.
Just the video I needed to see after receiving my new riptide SL Thanks
You’re welcome. The riptide is a phenomenal vacuum. Enjoy it and thanks for watching!
I went out to a call work order said the light doesn't work I reset the GFCI she was out 125$ for that I sat down with her and said you paid for an hour we can talk about your pool or the weather you paid for an hour you going to look at me that long , got much respect
Well explained I hadapool that I done a weekly service on that was perfect every Friday my help always bitched about having to drag out the cleaning equipment and I told him I would rather clean a clean pool than a filthy one any day
How much do you normally charge for this process 10000 gallon pool?
God is always watching me. And he punishes me for not doing it right.
He disciplines those he loves, like a loving father. He loves you. It’s not punishment Prov 3:12
Your right. I’ve been doing pools in new York for 35 years. If you do good work they tell a few people. But if you do bad work they tell 10.
Good news spread like refrigerated peanut butter bad news spreads like a fire in California
This is perfect. Half-assing jobs will only hurt you in the long run, and make things that much harder for both you and the client. Have pride in the work you do.
If I might add, be CONSISTENT, especially with time and days you service the client. Stay at least 15-20 minutes per service and stop dashing. Our number 1 complaint from new clients is the old guy shows up whenever!
Totally if you charge by the hour make them feel like they got what they paid for if you only there 15m sit on the porch with them ask about other things
😂 I love it bro. Explanation #1 and #4 “They’re just an asshole”. Right on. I have had clients that they are just unsatisfied no matter what. I cut them loose. And when they leave the 1 star review I just say sorry we couldn’t meet your expectations. Everyone on the reviews will know they are a karen.
We were speaking on that pentair earlier im well associated with a pentair rep best one they've ever had he talked me back into pools he said you've got a chlorine addiction it doesn't leave
Gotta use them sweep 90's Bruh lol.. Just put in a 400sq ft system lol.. so under sized
I knew at some point an undersized comment would come by. You can only put in what someone will pay for. Not only was a 250 on the estimate, but so was a 340 and a 460 CL series. We can quietly upgrade them to a 250 when a cartridge replacement is needed. Thanks for watching…bruh
@ChlorineKingPoolService lol!! You didn't have to do hin like that!!
@@gogators5762 there's always a hater on every video I do. LOL
@ChlorineKingPoolService I subbed to your channel bro, you seem like a cool dude, and very knowledgeable on pools. Just so happens I'm in Florida with a pool! Enjoy your week bro!
@@gogators5762 I appreciate that and thanks for the kind words! I hope you had a good weekend!
They have to be tough to go through that 4 minutes of priming time those pentair pumps are set up for
Pentair makes an excellent pump. I wish the priming time was adjustable so we could change it from 5 to 3 minutes.
@@ChlorineKingPoolService 10\4 appreciated the video
@kennyarcher7876 of course!!
My neighbor has an 16x32 with 18inch sand filter I want to try cartridge set-up how many microns would need for that' size
I've got to study them tired of changing sand
I love that y’all leave enough space in the pipe for future add-ons.
Definitely need to think about future upgrades but also for future repair space! Thanks for watching.
No Teflon on the threads for the fittings?
No it’s not needed because there’s an O-Ring on each union that deals before the threading.
Pool plumbing mafia would be screaming that you didn’t use sweeps. 😂 Looks good.
Haha. One thing I’ve learned about people online is that someone will always have something negative to say lol. Thanks dude! I appreciate you watching!
I agree with this although everything I've read usually says run it at night because the chlorine works better. What I like to do is put a 2nd set of stops on the timer and run it during the day but also have it come on for a couple hours in the middle of that long span it'd normally be off. So I'll set an 8 hour cycle for the day hours then have it also kick on for 3 or 4 hours at night. Seems to work well and the water is never stagnant for long. It would be interesting to see some science on this and a properly controlled test to see which is actually better. We always see a few green pools a year not running and when we talk to the client they sometimes say "well, we weren't using the pool so we shut it off" with no clue that even if you're not swimming the pool still needs to run. Some understand, others look at me like I have 3 heads :)
I agree on saving energy and in a state like FL where pools are open year round VS pumps are likely a great choice but up here in the Northeast (NJ is my state) we see so many of these expensive pumps that don't make it through the winter and are dead in the spring or the bearings go bad and get noisy/seize. Back in the day when pumps lasted 15-20 even with our winters maybe it'd save money but when a customer spends 1000's on a pump and it dies in 3 years most just want the cheapest single speed option. Agreed on Pentair being the best product but I would say 19 out of 20 pools we see are all Hayward, mostly super pumps. Not sure why Pentair or Jandy for that matter is so rare in our market.
While there's nothing wrong with how you upsized to 2" underground using bushings I'm curious why you didn't just put in 1.5/2" compool valves and bring the 1.5" lines right into a 2" tee on the other side? If there's just two suction ports we often use the 3-way version of these valves and plumb in the 1.5's on one side then put a 2" coupler over the side that comes into the pump so you have both 1.5" pipes feeding into the 2" opening in the front of the pump, no loss of flow. Pool tech and owner for 35 years yet I still enjoy watching videos and seeing how other people work, never too old to find a better way of doing stuff, very nice channel you have.
When do u adjust the top vs the bottom cam?
The top and bottom represent the max the actuator. Just say the top is for the left extreme and the bottom is for the right extreme (not sure just using for the example). If you wanted limit how far the valve turns to the left you would adjust the top one and vice versa. I hope this helps.
What avg. speed for 18,000 gallons with avg temp 85. Have a Jandy variable speed
I wouldn’t like the speed to go below 2750 on any program. Also, at 85*’s chlorine starts burning off so keep that in mind!
This is why I only install mechanical timers and single speed pumps Running for 8 to 10 If you can afford a pool you can afford the electricity that comes with it plus here in Florida you need variable speed pumps to run 2800 rpm's or higher Because summer here is 8 months out of the year.
Agreed. I miss the days of just a single speed pump and mechanical timer. Manufacturers are making the new stuff way too difficult to use.
We too encourage single speed pumps and keeping it simple with mechanical timers. So few pools need pumps over 1hp here, even 20x40 pool do just fine with non restrictive plumbing, a DE filter and 1hp pump. When customers ask me how long to run the pump I always say "well the more the better", some of our customers downsize pumps and run their pools 24x7. I generally recommend 10 hours minimum. For the average person pool automation isn't necessary and just leads to confusion. A big downside of high tech pumps is they still break, I had one just today with the drive unit broken, customer said it's the 3rd time it's not worked after the winter. Wound up installing a 1.5 super pump XE and setting all the routines to 100% speed then just putting stops on his mechanical timer, he's happier than he's been in awhile, the pool just works, the heater doesn't shut off from not enough pressure at low speeds and dialing in the salt system has less variables now. I'm all for improved tech but in many ways I feel like our trade has regressed. On another note I saw an old Laars heater, millivot that's 27 years old and looked like new! Flames were all blue, no rust, heater fired right up. They definitely don't make things like they used to. Every once in awhile I see an old Perflex filter from the early 70's still in operation, those things were built like tanks.
@BobsPoolService I’ve seen only a few perplexes and thought wow those should be in a museum lol. You’re definitely right. They don’t make things like they used to. Almost to the point of you know you’re selling something you’ll have to fix at least once during the warranty period. Meanwhile, the super pumps just rocking away for years and years.
Can you do a video of you you use for a pole vacuum and net. Overall equipment test kit salt meter so on and so on
Yea I can do that. I owe Joe from primate poles a long over due review of his pools.
Hopefully you have a wonderful sunmy thx for sharing your knowledge
Haha I hope so too! Thanks for watching friend!
Yes, i have overlooked this in past pools and most of it came to make costumer happy and running pump less in order to save energy, now i do not do that even if they want to run 6hrs a day here in 100F weather texas, and thanks, ill start adjusting my pools tomorrow :D
It’s so easy to overlook! Even a pump at 3000 rpm’s will save a lot of energy will no appreciable difference in circulation. It’s when people run it at 1500 for 6 hours is when it becomes a problem haha. 🤣
Great rule to implement! Thanks Chlorine King.
My pleasure! Glad it was helpful and thanks for watching!
Interesting that's some great info when you say 1 hour per 10° is that calculated at max.R p m's. So basically I live here in Florida as well.Being it's ninety degrees , you're saying these things should be running eleven or twelve hours if they're a variable speed
Yes that’s at max RPMs. It all depends on the speed. The slower the speed the longer you have to run the pump to get the 1.5x turnover you’re wanting. Some pumps run 14-16 or in some cases even 24 hours a day if the speed is low enough.
Will look for this great tip thank you
You’re very welcome. Thanks for watching.
I agree, quality over quantity
100%. It’s been key to the success of my company.
@@ChlorineKingPoolService Your other video about pricing appropriately helped me with my prices when I started my company last year. Less pools more money, happier clients. Lol I'm kind of a fanboy by the way. I've learned so much from your videos brother, school even with over 16 years of experience, your videos have showed me that some things I was taught in the beginning were the wrong way of doing things.
@paperbagchampagne7347 that really means a lot. My main goal is to help each of you and elevate the pool industry to a legitimate trade in the clients eyes.
